Waitlist only

There is still availability for the Autumn School intensive

From August 9th - 21st, Luke will yet again organise and hold this one-off structured, multi day educational yoga programme in Colares, Portugal. This instructional event will support a deepening in your postural practice and understanding of the yoga tradition with daily physical practice and structured elements, of Vedic chanting, philosophical discourse and group discussion. This structured programme will unfold as a continuous whole over its duration with each day building on the previous.

This ‘school’ is about much more than the practice of posture, it is an organised instructional gathering focused on deepening physical yoga practice and philosophical understanding through a clear curriculum based on yoga’s ancient texts.

You can learn more about the guiding spirit of Summer School here and here

*Applications from previous school participants will be prioritised.

Location

The programme will be held at Aldeia da Praia a short distance from Praia Grande and Praia das Maçãs just outside the town of Colares. You can see the location here on Google Maps.

Accommodation

You will be responsible for your own accommodation and food. Accommodation is available at the Aldeia and alternative options can be found on Airbnb, booking.com, etc. Access to your own transport is recommended if you wish to explore the sites of the area.

If you require some additional accommodation alternatives please check the school Telegram group where information about accommodation can be shared.

The Programme

The Summer School follows a pre-defined curriculum designed with clear learning objectives to help you deepen in and understand the yoga traditions encountered by Luke in his journey.

The daily programme will begin at 6.30am with postual practice. There will be no sessions on Saturdays or Moon Days and the postural prqctice will be ‘Mysore style‘ (which is the traditional method of learning this yoga method).

This year I’m requesting a minimum commitment is for the whole two week programme. The commitment is given to the whole continuous programme. It is not possible to attend separate parts or elements.

Three times a week following the Mysore practice will be group chanting, Q&A and discussion. . The best way to keep up to date with School activities is via the Ashtanga Yoga Summer School group on Telegram.

Spaces are limited and are available upon application. All levels of practitioner, from beginner to advanced, are welcome to apply.

The Summer School is such an amazing place with a vibe one can only understand and feel when there. What you have created is indescribable.

Pricing

The Summer School is offered on a donation basis.

My wish is to offer these teachings of yoga to you from my heart free from concerns about meeting some kind of arbitrary monetary value.

I request in return that you give what you truly enjoy giving knowing that your contribution will support me in my work in sharing these yoga teachings and facilitating these kinds of educational events in the future.

A percentage of whatever contribution you give will go directly to a charitable cause that helps street children in Peru.

I was originally inspired by this talk on the concept of ‘Giftism‘ to work in this way and I have found the same concept echoed in the work of Marshall Rosenburg as seen in this video.
