The Hero’s Journey: A transformational Ashtanga Yoga retreat
April 11 - 18, 2026
A retreat for the curious, the courageous, the seekers, misfits, and mystics.

The Location
Purple Valley, Tenerife
Purple Valley Tenerife is located in Playa Paraiso, Adeje, approx. 30 mins from the southern airport and 1 hour from the northern airport of Tenerife. Created and designed by the late Denis Devaris, a Greek architect who came to Tenerife in 1978. Denis envisioned a retreat where likeminded people could exchange experiences and ideas through workshops and seminars. Today it has evolved into an ecological retreat centre which is now owned by Denis daughter Soujata.
Situated only 15 mins from the coastline, the centre is open to all those who are looking for peace, nature, and good weather. The peaceful retreat centre features a beautiful garden, comfortable living areas and relaxing therapy rooms. It's been designed using a blend of ecological principles, hand built from volcanic stones and artisan tiles. The retreat showcases creative architecture with simple, cosy comfort and natural wellbeing.

The Practise
During this powerful six-day retreat Luke will weave together Mysore-style Ashtanga Yoga, mythic storytelling, and the deep listening practices of Nonviolent Communication (NVC)—all set within the sacred arc of the Hero’s Journey, the universal story of transformation that lives in myth, in the yoga śāstra, and in each of our lives.
This immersive workshop invites you into a shared transformational process: a journey from the known to the unknown, from striving to surrender, from shadow to light.
Each day is framed by an archetypal stage of the Hero’s Journey, brought to life through evocative stories, reflective practices, and the breath-driven rhythm of daily Ashtanga Yoga. You’ll not only deepen your physical practice but explore the subtle inner terrain of who you truly are.
This is a rare chance to journey both on and off the mat under the guidance of one of the few Certified teachers in the Pattabhi Jois lineage.
What to Expect
Mysore-style Ashtanga Yoga each morning, with individual guidance and space for genuine self-discovery
Vedic mantra recitation woven into each day—an embodied connection to yoga’s ancient roots and the living power of sacred sound
Afternoon sessions blending yogic philosophy, mythic storytelling, and NVC-based practices that deepen self-connection and transform how we relate to ourselves and others
A spacious group field where inner reflection, honest conversation, and good humour are all equally welcome
This Retreat Is For You If…
You want to deepen your yoga practice—not just physically, but meaningfully
You’re seeking a renewed sense of direction or connection to purpose
You resonate with philosophy, myth, mantra, and story—or feel curious to discover how they live inside your own path
